DIY Wedding Invitations

Jeff and I decided it would be a nice touch to make our own invitations. Unfortunately, we are both so detail oriented that the process took way longer than expected. We learned how to emboss hand stamped patterns at home with watermark ink, embossing powder, and a heat gun. Overall investment was about $250 for 50 invitations, including a paper cutter, embossing gun, and stamps, but I think it was worth it for the satisfaction of having made them ourselves.

Vegas Baby!

The girls and I went to Vegas for a weekend of dancing, champagne, and celebrating. Aside from a few mysterious bruises and an unexpected fainting spell, I survived my bacchelorette completely unscathed! One of my friends won $300 and another fractured her ankle at a club...sounds just like Vegas! I couldn't resist setting a hot pink theme for the party and made this little card to decorate the girls' goodie bags.

Wedding Palette

Jeff and I have been planning our wedding for the last six months and it is finally just around the corner! We tie the knot on May 1st at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville. I put together this palette of inspiration images to help guide our selections for flowers, decor, and theme.

knoll 101

After nearly ten months of looking for full time work, I am finally employed! I will start as space planner/designer for a knoll furniture dealer this week. It is very different from my past employment with an architectural office, but I'm looking forward to the challenge of learning more about another side of the design industry. It will include some new design software and getting very intimate with the knoll furniture line. One of my favorite manufacturers, knoll carries a whole series of classic 20th century pieces, and they continue to deliver new and innovative lines today. You may recognize some of the pieces from above :)

reDiscover and Etsy lighting finds

sunfish820

my hand-made pendant

I compiled this list of light fixtures today and was reminded of our own exploration in hand-made lighting :) In 2007, my fiance and I were fortunate enough to take part in designing light fixtures for reDiscover to auction at neocon xpress in Los Angeles. reDiscover is a great organization that encourages children to think about concepts of preservation and reuse through repurposing discarded items as learning and craft materials. The picture above shows our completed designs (more pics can be found here).
